I’ve really had my fill of Internet reporting from the Left and the Right blogosphere citing the recent U.S. NORTHCOM-CANADA COMMAND military-to-military agreement establishing the bilateral Civil Assistance Plan (CAP) as being the establishment of a “North American Army”.

What a bunch of conspiracy nonsense and absolute hooey!

The Civil Assistance Plan is a signed document, a contingency plan (CONPLAN) which provides the legal framework for the military forces of the United States or Canada to assist each other if requested as necessary in supporting their nations civilian authorities in emergency situations which include but are not expressly limited to: floods, forest fires, hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural disasters as well as the effects of a terrorist attack.

US Defence Secretary Robert Gates said more attacks and bombings and fewer all-out battles as Afghanistan moves into its annual summer campaign season.

Mr Gates said on every occasion the Taliban stood and fought, they lost.

But the problem remained there were too few coalition and Afghan government forces to hold territory and maintain security against insurgents to allow economic development.

Eighty-two nations endorsed a strongly worded draft treaty on cluster munitions, moving the world closer to a ban on weapons that cause horrific civilian casualties, Human Rights Watch said today at the end of a week of diplomatic talks in Wellington, New Zealand. The push for a comprehensive ban on clusters, which harm civilians during and after conflict, came despite efforts to water down the text by a handful of states with stockpiles of the weapon.

Young homophobic communist Pavel Tarasov, who 18 months ago infamously said that a “good faggot is a dead faggot”, has surfaced as a staffer for Communist presidential candidate Gennady Zyuganov.

As a representative of the communist leader, Mr. Tarasov took part recently in debates between presidential candidates on Russian national TV channel.

Although Israel is the homeland for the Jewish people, I believe that anti-Semitism, just like racism and xenophobia, is not only a Jewish problem or an Israeli problem, but it says everything about the society in which it raises its ugly head. Antisemitism, the way I see it as a sickness that eats at the core of humanity.

Tzipi LivniIt is a plague which the planet cannot tolerate. I firmly believe that only in understanding this can we bring about change. The challenge must be met by the international community, and Israel, as homeland to the Jewish people is of course part of this battle. In a way, we are on the frontline, but we need the world, the international community and leaders from different parts of the world to work together in order to change the current reality. While for us in Israel, combating antisemitism is part of our foreign policy, I would like to see it as an important part of domestic policy throughout the world.
